Seeding Innovation: Entrepreneurship Pitching/Coaching at JTM-Detroit

Journalism That Matters is helping a major initiative by the Ford Foundation and Unity Inc., Journalists of Color, to foster entrepreneurship. (APPLY)

Thanks to Time, Inc., and its Assignment Detroit effort, we'll be making some small cash awards after the gathering to promising ideas. We'll follow and assist them throughout the year, culiminating with JTM-North Carolina at Elon University in summer 2011 (date announced soon).

The PDF below links to a draft of the criteria we're considering applying to make the awards. We'll be holding a session during JTM-Detroit to develop the approach, and a coaching session on Sunday morning for some of the best emergent ideas.

The criteria should provide a sense of the tenor and direction of the conversations encouraged during our four days together. Our discussions are not bounded by them, especially if you are not considering pitching Sunday or applying for the stipends. They give an advisory sense of what we'd like to see accomplished at our Detroit confab.

Here's a link to a page and downloadable PDF that will help you think about **your** project idea (you do have one, don't you?)
