Bio: Teresa Martin

Editor – Innovator – Disruptive Media Pioneer

In Teresa Martin’s first newspaper job, her big story was the Dow breaking 2000 ... and her biggest adjustment was transitioning from Selectic typewriters to an Atex editorial system.

She became fascinated with the way digital tools impacted the newsroom and the way information and for the next several decades helped create products bridging technology and information, working with Knight-Ridder on early prototypes for tablet newspapers, content products for the Apple Newton, early online classified ads, a news search product, first generation Java applets, and many other explorations of information interpreted by disruptive technology.

She went on to co-found one of the earliest web-based content companies taking it from launch through acquisition, served as COO of a content management company, launched an MMOG business, developed not-for-profit community access networks and co-founded a BTOP-funded middle mile network nonprofit organization whose 350 miles of fiber brought needed digital infrastructure to southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. Throughout it all, she wrote about the digital transformation of our world – 800 tight words a week about the intersection of technology, community, and information.

Today she serves as the Executive Director of Lower Cape Community Access Television, working with the towns of Brewster, Eastham, Orleans, Wellfleet, and Truro to manage two community and education stations, while exploring new models for community and local news and building a hub of connection, collaboration, and creation. She loves nothing better than creating engagement between people, their communities, and the world around them.
