Information About Us

The American Reporter is a six-day-per week electronic "newshare" owned by the writers whose work it features. The American Reporter was founded to give journalists around the world an opportunity to have a financial stake in their own work. Each story carried by The American Reporter earns equity for the correspondent in profits from advertising and subscriptions, and income when their stories sell to other newspapers.

The American Reporter was founded as part of a discussion that took place on the Society of Professional Journalists Internet discussion list. The American Reporter is not affiliated with the SPJ. The American Reporter has no political, corporate or other affiliation.

Subscriptions

The American Reporter is published six times a week, Monday through Friday, with one weekend edition. You can voluntarily subscribe to the Web edition of the American Reporter (AR) for just $25 per year by sending your name, physical and Email address and phone number to reporter@newshare.com. We will telephone you for credit-card information or Email you with other payment options.

Your subscription to the American Reporter will also entitle you to access other Newshare-member publishers such as Studio Briefing.

Special Note on Reprint Usage

The subscription price of $10 a year is for personal use. If you want to purchase and reprint articles offered here at the AR site, you must purchase a commercial subscription to the American Reporter for $100 per year, plus the penny-per-word amount shown at the top of each article. For $125 per week ($500/mo, or $6,000 per year), you may purchase one-time publication rights to the entire contents of daily editions of the American Reporter. If you operate a website, payment of the $100 annual fee gives you blanket permission to direct-link to AR stories. At this time, no per-click fee is charged.
